King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) actively advances sustainable water management and ecosystem protection through educational programmes and community outreach activities focused on freshwater systems, irrigation practices, and water conservation. The university—through its Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Applied Science, and College of Industrial Technology—organizes workshops, training courses, and seminars for local farmers, students, and community representatives across Bangkok and Prachinburi provinces.
These programmes emphasize the efficient use of freshwater resources, modern irrigation techniques, wastewater treatment, and sustainable water governance. Participants gain practical knowledge on water distribution systems, flood control, and water reuse technologies that support sustainable agriculture and industry.
A notable example is the Community Water Conservation Workshop organized by KMUTNB Prachinburi Campus in collaboration with the Prachinburi Provincial Administrative Organization. The project involved local farmers and municipal officers in hands-on training on smart irrigation systems, water quality monitoring, and maintenance of local canals and reservoirs.
For example:
- On December 19, 2024, the instructors of the Design Thinking course, in collaboration with the Research and Innovation Promotion Division of the College of Industrial Technology, took 100 students on an educational field trip to the Mahasawat Water Treatment Plant. The visit aimed to study operational processes and gather information for the design of a power substation project, which serves as a foundation for understanding and inspiring innovative ideas to address future industrial challenges. Students gained both knowledge and hands-on experience from observing real industrial operations. The university expresses its sincere appreciation to the Mahasawat Water Treatment Plant for providing this valuable learning opportunity. (Source: CIT KMUTNB)
