Maintain and Extend Current Ecosystems’ Biodiversity

KMUTNB actively undertakes initiatives to maintain and enhance the biodiversity of existing ecosystems, recognizing that protecting both plant and animal species is essential for long-term environmental sustainability. The university’s environmental stewardship programs focus on conserving local ecosystems within and surrounding its campuses—particularly those that are under ecological stress or face threats from urbanization and pollution. Through collaborative research and community-based activities, KMUTNB promotes the restoration of natural habitats, supports sustainable resource management, and integrates biodiversity conservation into academic and operational practices.

The Faculty of Applied Science, the Faculty of Industrial Technology and Management (FITM), and the Science and Technology Research Institute play leading roles in biodiversity monitoring and conservation. Projects include the assessment of flora and fauna diversity in nearby forested and aquatic ecosystems, tree-planting campaigns to restore degraded green spaces, and development of sustainable landscaping plans that support native species. FITM students and staff at Prachinburi Campus, for instance, regularly participate in forest restoration and community forest management programs—such as the “Forest Planting, Conservation, Restoration, and Community Forest Management Project”—in collaboration with organizations like the Toyota Cooperation Club. These initiatives help to protect wildlife habitats, restore soil health, and strengthen local ecosystem resilience.

Furthermore, the Center for Environmental and Energy Engineering (CEEE) and other university research units integrate scientific innovation into biodiversity conservation by developing eco-friendly technologies for waste management, water treatment, and pollution control that prevent damage to surrounding natural ecosystems. The university also encourages staff and students to take part in citizen-science programs and environmental volunteer projects to collect data, raise awareness, and contribute to biodiversity action planning. Through these combined efforts, KMUTNB not only preserves but also extends the ecological richness of its natural surroundings, ensuring that the diverse plant and animal species that thrive in its ecosystems continue to be protected for future generations.

  • Personnel and students from the Faculty of Industrial Technology and Management (FITM), King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB), Prachinburi Campus, participated in a volunteer activity titled “Forest Planting, Conservation, Restoration, and Community Forest Management Project 2024.” The event took place on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at the Ban Noen Soong Community Forest Project, Noen Hom Subdistrict, Mueang District, Prachinburi Province. It was organized by Toyota Cooperation Club (ICC) with the objective of fostering environmental awareness and encouraging public participation in the conservation and sustainable management of forest resources.
