Educational Programmes on Ecosystems (Wild Flora & Fauna)

KMUTNB strengthens its role as a hub of environmental education by offering educational programmes on ecosystems through the Department of Agro‑Industrial, Food and Environmental Technology (AFET), especially via its Division of Environmental Technology. This division provides comprehensive training and courses in environmental biotechnology, water quality treatment, pollution control, and ecosystem management.  While its core teaching focuses on degree programmes, the knowledge and resources of this division are extended into community outreach to raise awareness of local wild flora and fauna, habitat restoration, and ecosystem services.

Complementing this, the Faculty of Science, Energy and Environment (SciEE) at the Rayong Campus of KMUTNB delivers academic programmes such as the Bachelor of Science in Chemical Industrial Process and Environment, which includes components related to environmental science and ecosystem processes.  Through service-learning and public lecture initiatives, SciEE engages local communities to understand threats to wild plant and animal species, ecosystem degradation, and sustainable practices to conserve biodiversity in natural settings.

Through these offerings, KMUTNB enables community members — school students, local associations, and governmental partners — to participate in tailored workshops, field trips, and seminars that highlight wild ecosystem dynamics, native species identification, habitat monitoring and restoration methods. These educational activities serve to build capacity in ecosystem stewardship, fostering a deeper public understanding of biodiversity conservation and motivating collective action to protect wild flora, fauna, and their habitats.

For example:

  • KMUTNB organised a workshop for students and community members on wild plant species identification and habitat preservation, using field trips and interactive sessions to raise awareness of local biodiversity.
  • KMUTNB’s Faculty held an event exploring the habitats of native animal species and emphasising the importance of protecting wild ecosystems through community education and engagement.
