Access to Food Security Knowledge for Local Food Producers

Access to Food Security Knowledge for Local Food Producers

KMUTNB recognises the critical role of knowledge, skills and technology transfer in enhancing food security and sustainable agricultural and aquaculture production among local food-producers. To this end, KMUTNB has established a programme to provide local farmers, aquaculture producers and food value-chain actors with access to educational workshops, technology demonstrations, advisory services and collaborative innovation platforms. For example, the University’s Faculty of Science, Energy and Environment (Rayong Campus) supports the Agritech and Innovation Center (AIC) which functions as a knowledge-sharing hub for smart agriculture and provides technology transfer and training to regional producers. Similarly, the Faculty of Information Technology and Digital Innovation (FITM) at KMUTNB recently shared a research-based “semi-automatic smokeless chilli roasting machine” with the Ban Noen Hom community in Prachinburi Province, demonstrating the University’s commitment to delivering practical technological solutions to rural food-producers.

Through this programme, KMUTNB aims to enable local producers to adopt more efficient, resilient and sustainable production methods, strengthen their livelihoods, reduce post-harvest losses, and hence contribute meaningfully to the global goal of ensuring food security and sustainable agriculture (SDG 2).

For example:

  • Agritech and Innovation Center (AIC), Faculty of Science, Energy and Environment, KMUTNB (Rayong Campus): The AIC serves as a knowledge and innovation hub for smart agriculture and sustainable food production. It provides training and technology transfer to local farmers and entrepreneurs to enhance productivity and food security.
