Based on KMUTNB mission, partnerships, and projects related to community engagement, research, and education, the university and its members can participate in policymaking to end poverty in several ways.
At the local and regional levels:
KMUTNB influences local and regional policy by leveraging its academic expertise to develop solutions for local communities. The university can conduct applied research with local governments and businesses to solve community problems. This includes projects focused on improving livelihoods for farmers or developing vocational skills in rural areas. Through academic services and community engagement initiatives, students and faculty can work with communities to understand their specific needs and propose data-driven solutions to local officials. The university’s research capabilities can add weight to these policy recommendations. The university can introduce practical technologies and innovations, co-developed with community members, to regional stakeholders. This can support local entrepreneurship and improve quality of life, demonstrating the impact of technology on poverty reduction.
At the national level:
KMUTNB influences national policy by collaborating with government agencies and shaping the future workforce to address national priorities. As a public university, KMUTNB can engage in policy dialogues with national agencies and provide evidence-based research to inform policy decisions. This is supported by its mission to support the country through science, technology, and innovation. The university’s core mission of producing highly skilled graduates is a direct contribution to national development and poverty reduction. By training students with competencies demanded by modern industry, KMUTNB helps ensure a skilled workforce that supports economic growth. The university’s strategic planning and evaluation groups can produce analyses of national policies and their implementation. By using data, they can advocate for more effective government programs, as seen in KMUTNB’s documentation.
At the international level:
KMUTNB participates in global policymaking by aligning its efforts with international partners and advancing global sustainable development goals (SDGs). KMUTNB collaborates with international institutes, such as the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), to offer scholarships and support students from lower-middle-income countries. These partnerships show KMUTNB’s global commitment to ending poverty. By aligning its mission with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, KMUTNB participates in a global framework for development. This includes committing to eradicate poverty (SDG 1) through education, research, and community engagement. The university facilitates access to education for underprivileged students through scholarships, financial assistance, and mentorship. By publishing its efforts, KMUTNB promotes best practices for ensuring equitable access to education, a key driver in combating poverty
