King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) demonstrates its commitment to sustainable urban development through the adaptive reuse of brownfield sites. The KMUTNB Technopark, located in Prachinburi, serves as a prime example — it was developed on land previously used as a waste storage site under the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. Through comprehensive environmental rehabilitation and land restoration, the university transformed the former landfill area into a modern innovation and research hub. The Technopark now functions as a center for technological development, industrial collaboration, and academic research, providing green open spaces and energy-efficient infrastructure. This project reflects KMUTNB’s dedication to reducing land degradation, revitalizing underused urban areas, and promoting sustainable land management practices. It also serves as a model for other institutions seeking to convert degraded or abandoned land into productive and environmentally responsible academic and industrial spaces.
