KMUTNB Initiates Cross-Sectoral Dialogue on SDGs with Government and NGOs

KMUTNB actively initiates and participates in cross‑sectoral dialogues to advance the SDGs, particularly SDG 17 (“Partnerships for the Goals”), by bringing together government agencies, non‑governmental organisations (NGOs), industry, and academic stakeholders to exchange knowledge, shape strategies, and build multi‐stakeholder partnerships. One example is when the Faculty of Industrial Technology and Management (FITM) held a forum (via their Facebook post) that invited industry representatives, local government actors, and local community groups to discuss emerging technologies, workforce needs and regional innovation — thereby facilitating structured linkage between academia, business and society. Another case comes from the Institute of Technical Education and Development (ITED) at KMUTNB which organised a series of “Smart Tech for Community” workshops (mentioned on their website) involving municipal authorities, local enterprises and students in interactive sessions around sustainable urban technology and community resilience.

Through these dialogues, KMUTNB supports the full cycle of policy engagement: identifying cross‑cutting problems and challenges (for example industrial transformation, digital equity, local innovation ecosystems), developing strategic responses, modelling future scenarios (with and without interventions), monitoring implementation progress and adapting strategies based on feedback from all sectors. These engagements reflect KMUTNB’s commitment to building inclusive partnerships, leveraging its academic expertise and convening power to generate actionable insights, and embedding SDG‑aligned outcomes into regional policy and practice.

For example:

  • The Dean of FITM, KMUTNB, signed an MOU to enhance education, support student skill development, promote research, and foster sustainable local development through collaboration with another institution.
  • King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok, Prachinburi Campus, through the Faculty of Technology and Industrial Management, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on academic cooperation with Protos Technology Co., Ltd. The project aims to enhance the students’ skills and knowledge in digital technology.

The Institute of Technical Education and Development (ITED) organized a competition for innovative teaching media in the fields of industry and the circular economy under the event titled “Education to be Green Economy Innovation” on 5 June 2024, from 08:30 to 16:00, at the Pradu Daeng Auditorium, Multipurpose Building, KMUTNB. Assistant Professor Dr. Duangkamol Phonak, Deputy Director for Administration and Special Affairs at ITED, KMUTNB, served as the Chair of the Committee.

The event was honored by Professor Dr. Tierawut Boonyasophon, President of the University Council, who witnessed the award presentation. Assistant Professor Dr. Sarawut Suebyam, Assistant to the President for Finance and General Affairs, presided over the opening and closing ceremonies. Certificates and cash prizes were presented by Dr. Nataya Keeritiphakdee, CEO of Safe-T-Cut Smart; Dr. Phansak Somnintham, CEO of Bangkok Tools Co., Ltd.; and Dr. Thanatchaporn Promthan, Assistant General Manager of the Human Resource Management and Development Office, Betagro Group.

The competition for innovative teaching media in the industrial field was divided into three categories: 1) App/IoT media, 2) AR/VR media, and 3) Multimedia media, with a total of 33 participating teams.

In addition, two “KMUTNB MOOC AWARD 2024” certificates were presented by Dr. Jintana Thamkaew, Deputy Director for Innovation and Technical Education at ITED, serving as the advisor for the competition:
