KMUTNB Activities on International Collaboration for SDG Best Practices

King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) actively engages in international collaboration and research to review comparative approaches and develop best practices for addressing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By leveraging partnerships with universities, research organizations, and international networks, KMUTNB identifies innovative strategies and shares knowledge to support sustainable development at both local and global levels.

For example, KMUTNB’s collaboration with the ASEAN Legal Alliance through the International Conference World Business Forum: Riding Global Trends demonstrates how cross-border dialogue can inform best practices for sustainable business development. The conference brought together legal experts and business professionals from 40 countries to exchange perspectives on investment promotion, ESG-compliant business practices, and technological infrastructure development. Through these interactions, KMUTNB and its partners gathered insights into effective policies, governance frameworks, and investment strategies that can be adapted to promote sustainability in business operations worldwide.

Similarly, KMUTNB’s participation in the Problem-Based Learning “World Green Mech Contest 2024” in Indonesia exemplifies international cooperation in education and sustainable technology. Representatives from 181 teams across 11 countries collaborated on engineering projects that emphasized clean energy, disaster preparedness, and STEAM-based learning approaches. By comparing solutions developed by students from diverse educational systems and cultural contexts, KMUTNB was able to identify and document best practices in sustainable engineering education and youth engagement. These practices can then be shared internationally to improve learning outcomes and foster innovation in clean energy and sustainability education.

Through activities like these, KMUTNB contributes to SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) and also advances other SDGs such as SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), and SDG 13 (Climate Action) by systematically analyzing international experiences, extracting lessons learned, and promoting effective models for implementation. The university continues to expand these collaborations to strengthen global networks, disseminate evidence-based practices, and support the broader international agenda for sustainable development.

For example:

  • Faculty of Industrial Technology and Management (FITM) Welcomes Professors from Vietnam and Taiwan, Strengthening Academic Collaboration. During the visit, the guests were given a tour of the faculty’s laboratories, classrooms, and various facilities. The atmosphere was filled with collaboration and friendship, marking a significant step in promoting academic cooperation between leading universities in the Asian region.
  • The Faculty of Industrial Education, King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB), organized the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) “World Green Mech Contest 2024”, which took place on 3–4 August 2024 at Universitas Katolik Parahyangan (UNPAR), West Java, Indonesia. This event was a continuation of the collaboration between the Faculty of Industrial Education, KMUTNB, and Pada Education Co., Ltd., which has been conducting the annual Thailand Green Mech Contest using a problem-based learning approach. The main objectives of the contest are to encourage young people to practice fundamental engineering thinking, promote learning in science through STEAM Education, and focus on the development of sustainable clean energy. Participants also engage in simulated scenarios to prepare for potential future global disasters, aiming to expand youth activities internationally, foster mutual understanding between countries, and encourage the exchange of creative ideas and collaboration to build a better world. Many organizations worldwide regularly organize similar competitions at the international level under the “World Green Mech Contest” banner. The World Green Mech Contest 2024 was held with representatives from 181 teams across 11 countries, including China, Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, Mongolia, Vietnam, India, Japan, and Russia.

The Faculty of Applied Arts, King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB), in collaboration with the ASEAN Legal Alliance, organized the International Conference World Business Forum: Riding Global Trends. This event was conducted under the MOU between the Faculty and the ASEAN Legal Alliance on Friday, 27 September 2024, from 08:00 to 17:00, at the Infinity Ballroom, Pullman Bangkok King Power. The forum gathered lawyers and business professionals from 40 countries worldwide to discuss and update key trends driving global business. Participants engaged in discussions on topics critical to business investment decisions, such as: Thailand Springboard to Global Markets – perspectives from the government on promoting foreign investment and utilizing benefits under Thailand’s trade agreements. Business under the ESG Era – updates on laws and enforcement shared through the experiences of entrepreneurs in Europe and Thailand. Technology and World Revolution – tracking technological advancements and Thailand’s readiness to develop infrastructure to support new business ventures. KMUTNB invited Thai entrepreneurs to explore business collaboration opportunities in the ASEAN region, using Thailand as a hub for expanding into global markets. Attendees had the opportunity to exchange perspectives with lawyers and investors from 40 countries, as well as top-level speakers from both the public and private sectors, on key issues driving global business.
