KMUTNB Water Usage Monitoring and Management

KMUTNB Water Usage Monitoring and Management

KMUTNB is committed to sustainable water resource management through systematic monitoring and efficient usage. The university partially measures the total volume of water used across three campuses, including mains supply, and extractions from rainfalls, lakes, or aquifers. Data collection and analysis are conducted to evaluate consumption trends, identify potential areas for water conservation, and support environmental sustainability goals.

The University has installed water meters and monitoring systems to record and analyze monthly water consumption in academic buildings, laboratories, dormitories, and green areas. This data-driven approach enables the identification of high-usage zones and potential leakages, allowing for timely maintenance and effective water conservation planning. In addition, the University’s Facility Management Division regularly conducts audits and maintenance checks to ensure that all plumbing systems and water fixtures operate efficiently and comply with environmental standards.

To further enhance water sustainability, KMUTNB promotes awareness and behavioral change among students and staff through educational campaigns and participation in conservation activities. The University encourages the use of water-saving equipment such as low-flow faucets, automatic shut-off systems, and recycled water for landscape irrigation. Rainwater harvesting and wastewater treatment systems are also implemented to reuse treated water for non-potable purposes, reducing the demand for freshwater. These combined efforts not only help KMUTNB reduce its environmental footprint but also serve as a model of sustainable water management in higher education institutions.
