Water-Conscious Building Standards

Water-Conscious Building Standards

KMUTNB applies water-efficient and environmentally friendly building standards in its construction and renovation projects. These standards aim to minimize water consumption through the use of water-saving fixtures, efficient plumbing systems, and sustainable building design, aligning with the university’s Green Office. KMUTNB integrates water-conscious design principles into the construction, renovation, and maintenance of all campus buildings to ensure sustainable water use. The university will develop and implement green building guidelines that include the installation of water-efficient fixtures, dual-flush toilets, and automatic shut-off systems. All new construction projects and major renovations must comply with these standards to minimize water consumption and prevent unnecessary wastage.

In addition, rainwater harvesting systems and greywater recycling units will be incorporated into suitable buildings to reduce reliance on freshwater sources. Collected water will be utilized for landscape irrigation, toilet flushing, and cleaning purposes. The university will also conduct regular water audits to monitor usage efficiency, detect leaks, and ensure compliance with established benchmarks office and sustainability policies.

This initiative enlarges and enhances green areas around ICIT’s building to improve micro-environment quality, support natural cooling, and reduce demand on mechanical water-cooling or irrigation systems—contributing indirectly to water conservation and sustainable building standards.
