King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) is committed to maintaining high standards of water quality management to safeguard ecosystems, wildlife, and human health. The university has established comprehensive water quality standards and discharge guidelines that align with national environmental regulations and international best practices. These standards aim to ensure that all water released from university facilities, laboratories, and operations—whether domestic wastewater, laboratory effluents, or runoff—is treated and monitored to prevent contamination of natural water bodies.
KMUTNB’s water discharge management system includes regular testing of key water quality parameters such as pH, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), suspended solids, nutrients, and heavy metals. Water quality assessments are conducted in collaboration with certified laboratories to verify compliance with the Pollution Control Department’s (PCD) discharge limits. Where applicable, treated water is reused for non-potable purposes such as irrigation or landscape maintenance to minimize waste and promote efficient water use.
The university has implemented operational guidelines and training for staff and students to ensure that hazardous materials, chemicals, and research residues are handled and disposed of safely, preventing accidental pollution incidents. Treatment systems and monitoring devices are regularly maintained and upgraded to ensure consistent performance. Awareness programs are also conducted to promote responsible water use and discharge practices within the campus community.
